Level 5 Leadership by Jim Collins

Level 5 Leadership is a concept developed by Jim Collins in his influential book Good to Great. It describes the highest level in a hierarchy of leadership capabilities, identified as a key factor in transforming good companies into truly great ones.

Key Traits of Level 5 Leaders:

  • Personal Humility: They display a compelling modesty and are motivated by inspired standards, not personal ego
  • Professional Will: They are fiercely ambitious, but their ambition is directed first and foremost at the organization, not themselves
  • Duality: Modest and willful, humble and fearless.
  • Responsibility: Never blaming other people or external factors.
